Treatment Options at Athletes Recovery

When you first come to Athletes Recovery, our efficient intake staff will perform a number of thorough and confidential evaluations that will allow our multidisciplinary team to gain better insight into the struggles you are facing. Our medical evaluation will allow us to determine if alcohol use has caused any negative health consequences and to begin treatment for these conditions. The psychiatric evaluation will allow us to understand the depth of your addiction and diagnose any co-occurring disorders such as anxiety or depression. We will take the results of these evaluations and work with you to create a plan of care for your stay with us with an added emphasis upon spiritual, emotional, and personal growth.

Detoxification – If you come to us physically dependent upon alcohol, you will likely enter our medically monitored detox program. In detox, we ensure that our clients are comfortable and monitored for safety around the clock as we safely and effectively rid your body of alcohol and prepare you for the next phase in your recovery journey.

Medication may be used at the beginning of your stay with us to manage the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms and then slowly tapered down as you develop stronger coping skills. Other people may require more long-term medication management to help control symptoms of co-occurring disorders. The usage and dosage of medication will be determined by you and your treatment team and closely monitored for efficacy.

Individual therapy will be used to discuss the challenges you are facing in a confidential, non-judgmental atmosphere. Your therapist will work with you to find solutions to the stresses in your life, discuss triggers for using, and explore ways you can prevent relapse.

Group therapy is vital for our athletes as we understand the isolation and loneliness that can arise from your career and your struggles. You will work with other athletes to discuss the ways in which addiction has impacted your life, bond through shared stories, and work together to grow, learn, and heal as a team.

Family therapy can be helpful for many athletes as both time on the road and addiction can strain bonds with loved ones and family. Our staff will hold family sessions to allow you and your loved ones the opportunity to work together through your recovery and reconnect in a safe, secure environment.

As Athletes Recovery focuses upon treating the whole person, we offer a range of additional therapeutic opportunities to our clients. These may include:

  • Exercise
  • Physical therapy
  • Educational therapy
  • A.A. and N.A.
  • Acupuncture
  • Massage therapy
  • Animal therapy

Continuing Care

As the time of your discharge approaches, you’ll work closely with your treatment team to determine the next best step in your journey. Some of our clients find that they’d like to transition from Athletes Recovery into a sober living house to practice the skills they have learned in our program. Others may opt to continue their therapy on an intensive, rigorous outpatient basis in a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or intensive outpatient program (IOP). Both PHP and IOP programs allow our clients the opportunity to work on their therapy during the day while slowly reintegrating back into their community in the evenings. Still others may discharge home with a sober coach, traditional outpatient therapy, and community resources. Whatever your decision, Athletes Recovery is behind you the whole way.
